RESEARCH AREA • EUROPEAN UNION AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

GRIP’s work on peace and conflicts focuses on the role of the European Union. The GRIP work programme on the role of Europe in the world is based on three main themes. The first is EU foreign policy, defence policy and security policy (CFSP and ESDP). GRIP is closely monitoring the Lisbon Treaty reforms and the emergence of the EU’s industrial military-security system. The second area of reflection is the EU’s identity beyond its borders and the concept of universalism. The third area is the EU’s concrete conflict prevention and management policies and the collective security issues arising from deterioration of the environment and climate change.
